This year’s District Project will support – CNIB LAKE JOE – Minibus Campaign
Together we helped smash transportation barriers for CNIB Lake Joe Campers. Established in 1961, CNIB Lake Joe is the only accessible camp of its kind for Canadians with sight loss and their families.
Last years District Project supported the CNIB Lake Joe Minibus Campaign, because having safe, comfortable and reliable transportation enables Lake Joe to share the camp experience with more guests. And, together we helped to ensure everyone who wants to attend camp can.
Through a LCIF Matching Grant, ever dollar raised by Lions made an even greater difference, doubling our impact.
The A-12 Leadership Team encouraged all Clubs to “Get on Board” and support this worthy project. And did they ever responded ! District A-12 raised over $40,000 for this project. Together with the Lions of Multiple District A have achieved a remarkable feat by fundraising enough money to purchase a brand new minibus for CNIB Lake Joe.
It was truly inspiring to see how everyone rallied behind the cause. through various events and initiatives, MDA Lions steadily raised the funds needed, and in May the Lion Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) approved the application for a Matching Grant.
The new 24 passenger mini-bus has been ordered in the hopes that it can be pressed into service this season – after an official unveiling. It will be equipped with a wheelchair lift, air conditioning, blue tooth capabilities and ample luggage space promising to enhance the camp experience for years to come
Stay tuned for details for the unveiling ……
